John Brabourne Awards Accepting Applications from Up-and-Coming Film and TV Talent

The John Brabourne Awards - or JBAs - is a talent development programme designed to support emerging talent in the Film & TV industry with financial assistance.

Talented, committed individuals based in the UK looking to further their career in the film, commercial television and cinema industries may apply for support through the John Brabourne Awards scheme.

The John Brabourne Awards support up-and-coming talented individuals to further their career in the UK film, commercial television and cinema industries. Those considered will have shown determination and motivation in pursuing their chosen career however may have suffered setbacks due to unforeseen circumstances such as health or finance.

Awards of up to £5,000 are available. The scheme has a small, limited annual budget and so between eight and twelve awards are usually made during each application round. Successful applicants will also benefit from professional support and talent development from The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF). In the past, grants have been awarded to cover the following costs:
Suitable applicants will be working in the UK film, commercial television or cinema industry in a ‘behind the scenes’ capacity; including the areas of publicity, finance and festival programming.

  • Post production and festival distribution
  • Living and travel expenses
  • Childcare
  • Tuition fees
  • Short training programmes
  • Secondments
