Year of events for Blackpool business support team

Blackpool Council is helping to create an entrepreneurial spirit with a series of ‘New Year, New Start’ activities.

Following on from its successful Enterprise Week in November, the council’s Business Support Team will host dozens of workshops at its Enterprise Centre hub designed for getting an idea off the ground and making it grow.

Blackpool Unlimited has teamed up with organisations from across Lancashire to launch the New Year, New Start campaign.

With expert advice along the way, they aim to equip start-ups with the tools they need to get started, identify opportunities, networking, having a presence on all platforms and making an impact in the business world.

In the first few weeks of the year, Blackpool Unlimited has already hosted a number of drop-in sessions for start-ups and has dozens more activities and events planned throughout the first quarter of the year.

David Slater, Business Growth Manager at Blackpool Council, said: “We can open your ideas to a wealth of information we have access to at Blackpool Unlimited, you can attend our free events and workshops and watch your idea take off.

“There’s also workshops on making your business seen on-line, setting up a business plan, sales and pitching your ideas and financial management.

Cllr Mark Smith, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Enterprise and Economic Development, said: “Blackpool has long had a reputation for creating entrepreneurs – people with bright ideas who are prepared to turn them into viable businesses.

“Through initiatives such as Blackpool Unlimited and Get Started we’ve ensured there’s expert help available to turn hundreds of good ideas into sound businesses.

”Blackpool Unlimited, along with its partners, the North West Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, Boost Lancashire and Winning Pitch have all committed to events over the coming months.
