Making people’s lives less hectic is Amanda’s business

Amanda said ‘there is always so much to do looking after a house and family and time seems to slip away without you realising. Sometimes picking up the dry cleaning means you have less time nipping to the park with the kids’.
Amanda was in the Royal Navy for 4 years and had a successful career as an AB Warfare Specialist. The job took her all over the world and into some very dangerous situations. Amanda enjoyed the job as she felt she was there to help people and make a big difference to their lives. Being away for long periods of time was great in many ways but Amanda said she always missed that time with family. Coming home on visits became very precious and making the most of that time meant being very organised and running a tight schedule, something that fits well with military training.
When Amanda became a Mum maternity leave gave her lots of time to think about the future. Amanda said ‘That’s when I started working out how I could help people with their busy lives. It was second nature to me to run everything like a military operation’.
Research led Amanda to think about a ‘concierge’ service offering help with those pesky tasks that always take more time than you think! From dry cleaning, finding good deals online, organising car hire, errand running, sourcing suppliers to event planning, organising VIP experiences, organising weekends away, making dining reservations, the list is endless; as long as it’s legal of course! With the help of the Blackpool Council Get Started team Amanda has got everything in place to launch the business and start making people’s lives a little less hectic.
Cllr Mark Smith, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Enterprise and Economic Development, said: “It is wonderful to see someone have the opportunity to work in the field that they know and love.
“I am delighted that the Get Started team were able to advise Amanda and help realise her dream and I wish her well in her new venture. I would urge anyone thinking of setting up their own business to contact our team to see how we might be able to help.”
