New hair salon keeping it in the family

Headhunters Hair and Beauty is owned by Anne-Marie Carroll, together with her son Josh Hunter and sister-in-law Kerry Benson. They are supported by three other stylists and beauticians.
Located on Red Bank Road, the newly opened unisex premises specialises in a wide range of hair and beauty treatments.
Headhunters had been trading at the original salon for 14 years but the owners decided that they wanted to expand their business to offer a more extensive list of treatments.
Anne-Marie said: “We were having some problems with the building, and to be honest, we had outgrown it. We wanted to expand our range to include more treatments for a wider clientele and just did not have the space.
“We chose Bispham Village as it has a tremendous, vibrant atmosphere – a true community feel.
“Having my son Josh in the business, and seeing him continuously develop, gives me great pride.”
Alongside the business, the entrepreneurs want to give something back to the community and are launching an initiative that will assist everyone in the village.
Anne-Marie said: “We are looking at getting a defibrillator as there isn’t one in the vicinity. They are an amazing piece of kit which would undoubtedly save lives.
“We are liaising with Northwest Ambulance Service. Currently we are looking at needing between £600-800 for a unit.”
Cllr Mark Smith, Blackpool Council’s Cabinet Member for Business and Economic Development, said: “Anne-Marie, Josh and Kerry are a great example of entrepreneurs working together and using their skills and experience to build their own business, and join the thriving Bispham Village Business Community. It’s fantastic to see that they are so successful in their new premises.
“Get Started can offer you expert advice from experienced business professionals, from talking through your initial ideas and arranging your business plan, to supporting you as the company develops.”
