Positive Steps into Work

Positive Steps into Work is a Council service designed to get unemployed people back into work and, at the same time, help local businesses to recruit local people.

It’s all part of our commitment to regenerating Blackpool and making it a better place to live, work and do business. We have detailed our range of services below that may be of interest to you:

Blackpool Council Kickstart Gateway

Blackpool Council is acting as a Kickstart Gateway. The Kickstart scheme provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment. The scheme is looking to create 250 000, 6 month job placements up until the end of December 2021 across the country.

As a Kickstart Gateway, Blackpool council helps local employers get a Kickstart Scheme Grant, allowing them to employ young people on 6 month contracts. As part of the Gateway offer, Blackpool Council also has dedicated staff providing Pastoral and Employability support to the young people who access the scheme through the Gateway.

Applications to enter Blackpool Council’s Kickstart Gateway are now closed. If you would like to register your interest to participate in the scheme if we re-open the Gateway, please email kickstart@blackpool.gov.uk

As of February 2021, employers of all sizes can now apply to the Kickstart Scheme Directly. To learn more, access the government website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-a-kickstart-scheme-grant

Positive Steps into Work Free Recruitment

We also offer a free recruitment service which includes discussing your workforce needs, helping you to produce job descriptions so that you find the right staff with the skills and qualities you’re looking for, pre-screening and matching candidates ready for you to interview, organising interviews, and we’ll even find you a suitable venue to conduct the interviews if that’s what you need.

Whatever you need, just ask, and if we don’t know then we’ll almost certainly know someone who does. The best part of all is that our services come absolutely free in supporting local residents into work, you’re helping to make a real difference to the lives of local people.
