5 local businesses reach the finals in the EVA’s 2013

Five Blackpool based businesswomen have been announced as finalists in the 2013 Enterprise Vision Awards (EVA’s), the only business awards in the North West exclusive to women.

The awards which are now in their third year, received a
record-breaking number of entries meaning the competition to make the
shortlist was fierce and the finalists are the crème de la crème in
their sector.

The businesswomen from Lancashire who beat off stiff competition to get this far are:

• Claire Freshney of C Fresh Design (Young Entrepreneur category)

• Kristen Durose of Red Star Wealth Management (Financial Services category)

• Emma Colsey-Nicholls of ECN Bodyworks (Health & Fitness category)

• Denise Almond of DMA Accountants (Financial category)

• Julie Dewhirst of Julie Dewhirst Bookkeeping (Blackpool Networker of the Year)

• Marilyn Read of the CACI Clinic (Health & Fitness category and Lytham Networker of the Year)

However Claire, Kristen, Emma and Denise
will now go before the panel of judges to present their businesses in a
rigorous process that will see the microscope placed on their company
in a bid to scoop the title of winner.
Julie and Marilyn were both voted Networker of the Year by

fellow business women at the Blackpool Pink Link Ladies and Lytham Pink
Link Ladies networking groups and will now be in the running to take the
title of North West networker of the Year.

Heather Waters of headline sponsor,
NatWest said: “We are delighted to sponsor the EVA Awards 2013 and
pleased to see so many female entrepreneurs shortlisted again this year.
The EVA Awards play an important part in supporting and recognising
female entrepreneurial growth in the Lancashire region, something at
NatWest we are committed to supporting ourselves. We are dedicated to
understanding the needs of female entrepreneurs and hope that through
our continuous commitment to helping women in business we will be able
to apply business expertise and tangible support to help them realise
their ambitions. By the end of this year we will have over 200 Women in
Business specialists across the UK who have been through an externally
recognised accreditation programme.”

Fellow judge and sponsor of the Business
Woman of the Year category, Peter Legg of Blackpoolunlimited.com added
“This is a highly competitive category that recognises the leadership
qualities of individual women in business, their distinct style,
personal values, growth achievements and ambition.”

Now in their third year, the EVA’s which
were founded by Lancashire-based networking group, Pink Link Ladies
have carved themselves a solid reputation within the business community
and have attracted strong entries from across the North West proving the
high regard given to the awards by businesses across the region.

Unlike other awards in the area, the EVA’s also incorporates a
small percentage of public nomination with its stringent round of
judging to choose the winner and people can log on to vote at http://www.enterprisevisionawards.co.uk/ from
Monday, 29th July 2013. The public votes are graded before being
combined with the judges’ scores to choose the overall winner, however,
it is stressed that the judges votes are significantly more heavily
weighted.
