Nutrition Group unveils ambitious £2m expansion plan through the Regional Growth Fund
The move to the custom-built factory will boost its workforce from 75 to 90, with more jobs being created as its sales continue to grow.
The new plant, four times the size of the present one, is being funded by re-investment from the independent, privately-owned group along with a £150,000 grant from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund.
Nutrition Group, parent group to RPL Ltd, plans to be in its new 75,000sq ft manufacturing facility in November this year and sees the move as key for further growth in its operations.
Business development director Richard Greathead said: “As we push for more growth over the coming years, having more operational space, and the efficiencies that can be gained from relocation, will be key to our success.
“We are delighted to have received backing for our vision from the Regional Growth Fund.
“The move will allow us to expand our operation and our workforce and as a company with its roots firmly on the Fylde coast we are extremely proud to be staying in Blackpool.”
Nutrition Group aims to be the leader in the international food supplements marketplace, where it supplies customers across the UK and internationally with a wide range of products.
Last year the group announced a £2m rise in sales, which hit the £10m mark.
The company, which was founded in 1993, is looking to increase that by a further £2m over the next 12 months as it exploits new markets at home and overseas.
It currently makes around 2.5 billion tablets and capsules a year from its present Bispham operation – developing and producing vitamins, minerals and supplements for all the major high street and online retailers.
The group also has an import arm, specialising in the sourcing and distribution of nutraceutical products from its global supply chain, as well as a contract packaging operation.
Mr Greathead said: “We are working with brand owners across all sectors.
“A significant part of our present business is within sports nutrition for a variety of brands and we are also involved in some animal nutrition.
“We see great potential for even more growth in all of these areas and this has driven our move to new, bigger premises.
“We currently have several thousand different formulations that we make from stock of 2,000 different raw materials.
“There is a big focus on R&D in our organisation and that will continue in our new state-of-the art premises.”
Nutrition Group holds a manufacturer’s licence from the Medicine and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
