A South Shore businesswoman is heading in the right direction with her new mobile boutique hairstyling company.

Kym Styles from Rosebank Avenue in Squires Gate has been trading for the last few months after getting help from the Council’s Get Started business advice team.

With help from the team, who are part of the Start Up Lancashire project supported by European Regional Development Fund, Kym was able to access help and finance to begin her own business. “I’d spent 12 years working at a salon but after I had my children I didn’t want to commit to those salon hours again,” said Kym. “Instead I had a look at setting up on my own.” The 27 year‐old mum of two simply googled how to set up her own business and got in touch with Blackpool Council.

“I spoke to the team and went on a few of their advice courses about how to set up on my own and they were really supportive and helpful. They were very honest too and told me exactly how to improve my business plan. “I couldn’t have set up without them” she added. So far, Kym’s business already has around 50 clients and just importantly, allows her to work around her children.

“Not only is it working well financially, but I can now arrange my jobs around my kids and picking them up from school. “It’s the best thing I’ve ever done!” To ‘Get Started’ yourself, call 477147, email getstarted@blackpool.gov.uk or visit www.blackpoolunlimited.com
