Angela Kershaw discusses 4 things you need to know about business support in Blackpool
Business support in Blackpool is evolving, and so is the way Blackpool Council is working with local businesses.
We recently caught up with Angela Kershaw, Head of Business Growth, to talk about the changes being implemented in April 2026, what support is available, and how businesses can continue to access the guidance they need.
Q: What’s changing for Blackpool Council from April 2026?
Angela:
We are currently moving into a new phase, while some of the previous programmes won’t continue in the same way, our focus hasn’t changed. We will be continuing to support business growth across Blackpool.
We’re already looking at new opportunities and different ways to deliver that support, making sure it remains practical, accessible and relevant to what businesses need. It’s about evolving what we offer while keeping that strong local connection.
Q: What kind of support can businesses expect moving forward?
Angela:
We’re keeping things simple and easy to access. Businesses will still be able to get in touch with us through a straightforward online enquiry form, so that we can guide them on their business development journey.
Over the coming months, we’ll be delivering bespoke workshops shaped around the needs of local businesses. As well as offering practical support with our Commercial Property Locator, to help businesses find either commercial or industrial property in Blackpool.
We’re also continuing to invest in the Blackpool Unlimited website, making it easier for businesses to find support, explore opportunities and access useful resources. Alongside that, we’ll be offering a downloadable Net Zero toolkit to help businesses take manageable steps towards becoming more sustainable.
Q: Where can businesses go if they’re looking for space to grow?
Angela:
We’re really fortunate in Blackpool to have some fantastic business spaces available.
Places like The Robinson and Blackpool Enterprise Centre offer much more than just office space.
The Robinson, based in the beautifully restored Stanley Buildings, has been thoughtfully transformed from its original 1930s Art Deco design into a modern, flexible workspace. It’s designed to bring businesses together, with co-working areas, meeting spaces and a real sense of community.
It’s a great example of how we’re blending Blackpool’s heritage with modern business needs, creating spaces where people can not only work, but collaborate and grow.
Q: Will there still be opportunities for businesses to connect and learn?
Angela:
Definitely, that’s still a really important part of what we do.
We’ll be running guest speaker events and workshops that give businesses the chance to hear from experts, share experiences and connect with others locally. Those opportunities to learn from each other and build relationships are just as valuable as any formal support.
Looking ahead
There’s a real sense of momentum in Blackpool’s business community, and that’s something we’re keen to build on.
Blackpool Council will continue to support businesses in a way that feels practical and approachable, helping organisations take their next step, whatever stage they’re at.
