Blackpool businesses to benefit from continued fully funded growth support until 2027
More Blackpool businesses will continue to receive fully funded support to help them start, grow and scale after additional funding was secured to extend the successful Blackpool Growth Business Academy until March 2027.
Since launching in Autumn 2023, the academy has already supported almost 600 businesses across the town, helping entrepreneurs, start-ups and growing companies access tailored advice, mentoring and practical support to move their ambitions forward.
Led by Blackpool Council’s Business Growth Team, the academy has become a valuable part of Blackpool’s growing business community, supporting companies at every stage of their journey, from first ideas through to scaling and growth.
The continuation of the programme reflects both the growing ambition of Blackpool businesses and the positive impact the academy is already having across the town. Through the Blackpool Growth Business Academy, businesses can continue to access one-to-one support, workshops, mentoring and specialist guidance designed to help build confidence, develop skills and unlock opportunities for growth.
Angela Kershaw, Head of Business Growth at Blackpool Council, said:
“Blackpool is full of ambitious businesses and passionate people with fantastic ideas, and the demand for support continues to grow.
“We’re delighted that additional funding has been secured to allow us to continue supporting businesses across the town. Whether someone is taking their very first step into business or looking to grow an established company, having access to tailored support and practical guidance can make a real difference.”
Councillor Mark Smith, Cabinet Member for Economy and Built Environment at Blackpool Council, added:
“Supporting local businesses is central to our ambitions for Blackpool’s economy and future prosperity.
“The continuation of the Blackpool Growth Business Academy means businesses across the town can continue accessing expert support to help them grow, create opportunities and build long-term success here in Blackpool.”
The academy will continue to be led by Nikki Hesford and her experienced team, who have already worked with a wide range of businesses across Blackpool through one-to-one support, workshops and development opportunities.
Nikki said:
“We’re incredibly excited to continue supporting Blackpool businesses through the academy.
“There are so much ambition, talent and potential across Blackpool, and it’s brilliant to see businesses growing in confidence and taking exciting next steps. We’re looking forward to continuing to support even more businesses over the next two years.”
The extension of the programme demonstrates Blackpool’s ongoing commitment to supporting local enterprise, encouraging innovation and helping create a stronger local economy.
