Supporting Blackpool’s Community
Social value is at the core of Blackpool Council’s contracts. Via the contracts we award, we aim to be able to give back and support the Blackpool community, and we believe that every business has the power to make a difference. In this social value series, we highlight how the contractors we work with are supporting businesses and communities in Blackpool.
Here’s how marketing agency Happy Creative are creating a positive social impact by making a monthly donation to Blackpool’s Boathouse Youth, an inspirational charity founded by Laurance Hancock, that helps support children and young people in Blackpool.
Blackpool’s Boathouse Youth
Blackpool’s Boathouse Youth (BHY) was created to help establish a positive, supportive environment for young people across Blackpool. Their mission through various programs is to be able to promote personal development, well-being, and social connection for young people. From the Universal Programme to the Pathway Programme, BHY equips young people with essential tools for success while also addressing challenges faced by families. As well as the Holiday Activity & Food Programme which ensures children have access to food and activities during school breaks, easing financial pressures on struggling families.
BHY continues to reach thousands of young people, providing vital support. Through collaborations and partnerships with local organisations, BHY works to create a network of support that strengthens the entire community. Their work goes beyond simply offering resources; they aim to inspire hope, foster resilience, and build brighter futures for all.
There are many ways to get involved with The Boathouse Youth and support their essential work. Whether through donations, volunteering, or fundraising, every contribution helps provide the necessary services and resources to young people in Blackpool.
Providing Vital Support to Children and Young People
Happy’s contributions to Boathouse Youth up to March 2025 has already helped to provide vital support to thousands of young people in Blackpool.
Chief Happy, Karen Lambert said “We want to promote a positive change in our community, to make it a place where those who need it can access essential support. Happy’s values are to put people first, find a way and to give back to others, and through this social impact we aim to support this and show the love and care we have for our community,”
